The hiking trails around Anduze

Hiking in the Cévennes

So that the Cévennes and the Gard have a wide variety of landscapes on a relatively small area, this region is very popular with nature lovers and hikers. Discover the most beautiful walking steps to take during your stay at the Le Domaine de Gaujac campsite in Anduze.

Sea of Rocks Circuit

The start of the Sea of Rock hike is in the parking lot of the old bridge, in the village of Sauve. Its duration is estimated at 1:30. You will follow the yellow mark-up and the drop is 100 m. You will pass through cultural and historical buildings. Then walk through a stone gate and you follow the road. Fans of old stones will find their pleasure during this beautiful 5 km walk. After this rather difficult route, you can sit on the terrace of a restaurant in the city centre to cool off with a glass of fruit juice. This walk is very pleasant to do at the end of the day, starting at 6 p.m. On the lapiaz though, stay on the marked trails, as it is easy to stray into this type of landscape without dominant landmarks.

Capelans and dolmens circuit

The walking route of the Capelans and dolmens begins at the Bardon, near the submersible bridge, in the anduze car park. To respect the path of your walk, follow the red and white mark-up (GR), then the yellow marker and you will continue to go around the equestrian center. It is a nice circular hike of 5 hours time for a distance of 14 km and the vertical drop is 500 m with a difficult level. At altitude, your efforts are rewarded by the magnificent landscape that is offered before you on the Cevenol Mountains, the village, the river and the valley.

Dolmens and Pallières circuit

Here is a discovery hike that combines prehistory and nature of 14 km. Indeed, there are more than 1800 dolmens in the area. These monuments are most often hidden by vegetation or forgotten in the scrubland and their presence is almost never reported to walkers. However, some are very large and very well preserved. Sheltered from pines, oaks or arbousiers, you can discover them through pleasant walks. The tour starts in the parking lot of the hiking house on D 907, between Anduze and Saint-Jean-du-Gard. You cross the road to bypass the old station on the right, cross the tracks and go up the road on the left. At the crossroads, follow the road to the right. You will follow the yellow mark-up. The level is considered quite difficult with a vertical drop of 400 m. Cols, beautiful landscapes, panoramic and dolmens of course, this circular course of 4:30 is one of the most famous around Anduze.

Valaurie Circuit

The Valaurie circuit takes 2 hours 45 minutes and starts from the Corbes car park in front of the temple and the 8 km forest promenade leads you to the Valaurie cave. With a vertical drop of 200 m, you will enjoy the magnificent view that offers over the valley of Saint-Jean-du-Gard following the yellow and blue markings sometimes.

GR61 - Anduze-Col de l'Asclier

This is a 33 km hike, on the GR61 that passes through the gard department and the Cévennes national park of Anduze. You will pass the Col de l'Asclier via Générargues, Mialet, Saint Jean du Gard and Soudorgues. It offers you the opportunity to admire the beauty of the Cevenole mountains, to walk in the forest and by the river following the red and white marker. You can gaze at the whole valley from the peaks. A complete 9-hour walk, a real treat for nature lovers and hikers. The level is difficult on the other hand with a difference of 1130 m.
